House Fly Identification
The adults are 8-12 mm long. Their thorax is gray, with four longitudinal dark lines on the back. The underside of their abdomen is yellow, and their whole body is covered with hair-like projections. The females are slightly larger than the males and have a much larger space between their red compound eyes.
Habitat
Flies live in garbage and wherever animal feces are available. Dead animals attract flies within hours after death.
Treatment
Treatment starts with a thorough inspection for the primary source of the infestation and any conducive conditions. After that recommendations are made for good sanitation practices and/or elimination of conducive conditions. Then a pesticide application maybe preformed when necessary.
